Tell me more about:

Yersinia

Yersinia is a genus of Gram-negative bacillus-shaped bacteria belonging to the family of Enterobacteriaceae. Yersinia enterocolitica and Yersinia pseudotuberculosis infections cause the disease yersiniosis, which is an animal-borne disease occurring in humans and some mammals.

Yersiniosis is, after infections by Salmonella and Campylobacter, the most common bacterial gastrointestinal disease. The biggest risk factor is the consumption of raw pig products, like ground pork or minced meat. With the foodproof® Yersinia enterocolitica and Yersinia pseudotuberculosis Detection Kit the two pathogenic species can be detected and identified within a short time.

The Yersinia Kit is based on real-time PCR technology, which is well-established in the food industry as a highly sensitive and specific detection method.
