FAA-HB
Fastidious Anaerobe Agar with Horse Blood

Fastidious Anaerobe Agar with Horse Blood is a ready-to-use agar plate specifically designed for the cultivation and antimicrobial susceptibility testing of anaerobic bacteria.
Recommended by EUCAST for disk diffusion testing of rapidly growing anaerobes, FAA-HB supports the growth of clinically relevant species including Bacteroides spp., Prevotella spp., Fusobacterium necrophorum, Clostridium perfringens, and Cutibacterium acnes.
EUCAST Disk Diffusion Method
FAA-HB plates are inoculated with a bacterial suspension prepared in 0.85% saline from overnight cultures, following the EUCAST 15-15-15 rule:
· Use the suspension within 15 minutes
· Apply antibiotic disks within 15 minutes of inoculation
· Start incubation within 15 minutes of disk application
Plates are incubated at 36 ± 1°C for 16–20 hours under an anaerobic atmosphere (80% N?, 10% H?, 10% CO?).
Following incubation, inhibition zone diameters are measured and interpreted according to the latest EUCAST breakpoints and quality control criteria for anaerobic bacteria.
