Selective medium for the detection of B. cepacia complex

Burkholderia Cepacia Selective Agar USP (BCSAU) is a selective medium used for the recovery of Burkholderia cepacia complex (Bcc).

Prepare the sample in Tryptic Soy Broth and incubate at 30-35°C for 48-72 h to enhance the recovery of Bcc. Subculture by streaking on a plate of BCSAU.
Incubate the plate aerobically at 30-35°C for 48-72 h.
Burkholderia cepacia colonies are typically translucent and rough and cause a red-orange to yellow color change of the medium.
