USE: MUELLER HINTON CHOCOLATE AGAR is a selective medium that allows Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Haemophilus influenzae cultivation and the sensitivity test of fastidious microorganisms

MUELLER HINTON CHOCOLATE AGAR is a medium for susceptibility test with the agar-diffusion method and allows Neisseria
gonorrhoeae and Haemophilus influenzae cultivation.

The cultivation of Haemophilus influenzae and parainfluenzae is ensured by NAD which is an essential coenzyme in the respiratory
chain of many fastidious microorganisms. Neisseria gonorrhoeae requires L-glutamine, which is present in Vitalex growth supplement.
Adenine and guanine are used for nucleic acids synthesis. Cyanocobalamine, thiamine, cocarboxylase and p-aminobenzoic acid are
used for the synthesis of enzymes and coenzymes. The content of p-aminobenzoic acid, which is present in Vitalex growth supplement,
is reduced to a minimum in order to reduce the inactivation of sulphonamides and trimethoprim when the medium is used for the
susceptibility test of bacteria to these antimicrobics. L-cysteine is a source of organic sulphur and allows the regulation of the redox
potential of the medium. Glucose is a source of energy. Horse defibrinated blood is a further growth factor for fastidious microorganisms.
