STERILtest GST E6/E5 are self-contained biological indicators (SCBIs) designed to effectively monitor the performance of steam sterilization cycles at 121°C (250°F).

Each unit integrates a paper disc inoculated with Geobacillus stearothermophilus (ATCC 7953) spores and a crushable glass ampoule containing a sterile culture medium with a pH indicator. Both components are enclosed within a thermoplastic vial featuring a steam-permeable cap, ensuring optimal exposure during the sterilization process.

Fully compliant with ISO 11138-1, ISO 11138-3, EP and USP standards, STERILtest GST E6/E5 guarantee reliability and regulatory alignment.

Following activation and incubation, results are clear and easy to interpret:

• Positive result (sterilization failure): viable spores lead to a color change of the medium from violet to yellow and/or the development of turbidity.
• Negative result (successful sterilization): the medium remains violet and clear, indicating the absence of microbial growth.
